Announcing the winners for Round 2 - Best interactive data visualisation

For the second round of the 2014-15 On Think Tanks Data Visualisation Competition, we limited entries only to interactive visualisations. And in this round we saw a number of great examples. Some relied on tools like Tableau and Infogr.am to give their visualisations interactivity. Others did more bespoke coding, relying on JavaScript libraries like D3.js to bring their visuals to life.

These various approaches were voted on by the public and narrowed down to the top five entries, which our diverse panel of judges have now reviewed. So without further ado, the winner of Round 2 and of the US$1500 prize is...

We've already got some great entries to share, but we know there are a lot more examples out there! We also know it's a busy time of year. As such, we've decided to extend the submission deadline by one week. The new timeline for the Round is as below.

In the first round of the 2014-15 On Think Tanks Data Visualisation Competition, we limited entries only to static visualisations. Static visualisations could be anything from a simple bar chart to a multi-part infographic that combines a number of data points to tell a cohesive story. 

Our diverse panel of judges have reviewed the top six data visualisations as determined by the public vote.  And the judges were able to come to a clear agreement on the winner and the runner up for this round. So without further ado, the winner of Round 1 and of the US$1500 prize is...

Round 1 of the On Think Tanks Data Visualisation Competition 2014 now open!

The wait is over! The On Think Tanks Data Visualisation Competition is back in a newer -- and better -- incarnation for the 2014-15 season. We've been busy behind the scenes completely reworking the website. In particular, we've made a big effort to build out the Resources section of the website. And the competition itself has changed in three important ways: it's now open to any think tank anywhere in the world, we've targeted the rounds to separate static and interactive ones and have a new category for best use of a data visualisation as part of a communication strategy, and we've added new partners.
